Warhammer 40K Tournament Rules Clarification (Forgeworld)

A change in the rules has been made regarding Forgeworld rules.  It has been decided that Forgeworld rules may not be used at this year's 40K RTT.  Players may use Forgeworld models to represent units from the standard codices.

We are sorry for the confusion and will make every effort to avoid such in the future.  Please feel free to contact me at equinox999equinox@yahoo.com if you have any questions or concerns.

WFB Appearance Scorecard

Below is a draft of the Appearance scorecard that will be used at this year's WFB tournament. It is very similar to last year's card with a couple of exceptions.

The first is that total of all categories is more than the maximum score a player can get for appearance. This will allow folks who are strong in some areas, but not all areas, to still be able to achieve a maximum score towards their overall total.

The second change is that the judge's final score does not impact the a player's appearance score and will only be used to determine the winner of the Best Appearance award in the case of a tie.

Please feel free to comment or provide feedback. The final version of the scorecard will be posted in late June.

Update: Warhammer Forge Units

It took longer than I expected, but finally someone has asked the question of whether or not Invasion will allow Warhammer Forge units. The short answer is yes as a long as they meet the composition requirements of the tournament. The long answer is that my decision is based on the current playtest rules posted on the Forgeworld site. Assuming the new book is released before Invasion, the final version of the rules in the book will be used and not the playtest version. This means anyone wishing to play with the new units must bring a copy of the current rules. If anyone needs further clarification, please email me at equinox999equinox@yahoo.com.

Update (04/13/2011): Any units using Warhammer Forge rules must be represented by the actual Warhammer Forge models/conversion bitz. (i.e. If someone wants to use Sayl the Faithless and Nightmaw the Spawn, they must use the models from Warhammer Forge. Those models can be converted, but any conversion must clearly use the original model.)

Rules Update: Appearance Requirement

The appearance requirement has been updated to clarify what is required and the penality for not meeting the requirements.

Appearance Requirements
1. All armies must be painted. (No exceptions!) Invasion Kenosha considers painted to mean that an army has some level of detail in the painting. Three colors alone is not acceptable for the event. This does not mean a player's army must be golden daemon quality, just that it must display to the judge that an honest effort was put into building it.
2. Non-GW models are welcome and encouraged.
3. Display bases are not required, but are strongly encouraged.
4. All models must adhere to WYSIWYG.
5. All models must be based. Bases must be painted.

Any models found to not be meeting these standards will be banned from use during the event. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the judge at equinox999equinox@yahoo.com or post in the comments section of this entry.

The Army Book Challenge

A new addition to Invasion Kenosha II is the introduction of a new contest called:

The Army Book Challenge
The army book challenge is simple in design, but difficult to win. On the day of the event, each player must submit which army book they will be using for the event. After registration is closed, a review of all the army books being used will be conducted by the judge. For each book from the list below that has only one player using it, that player will receive an entry for the Army Book Challenge. If all books have at least one player using them, then each book that has two or less players using it will earn those players an entry into the Army Book Challenge. The results of the army book challenge have no impact on any player's tournament score. This activity is intended as fun and meant to inspire diversity among the players attending the event.

The Official Army Book Challenge List
(Note: Any additional army lists that are approved by the judge, like the Zombie Pirate list, will be assigned to one of the categories below for the purpose of this contest.)

Bretonnia
Beasts of Chaos
Chaos Dwarfs
Daemons of Chaos
Dark Elves
Dogs of War
Dwarfs
Empire
High Elves
Lizardmen
Ogre Kingdoms
Orcs & Goblins
Skaven
Tomb Kings
Vampire Counts (Zombie Pirate List)
Warriors of Chaos
Wood Elves

Rules Update: Mystic Requirement

Based on some recent conversations, the following clarifications (blue text) have been made to the rules regarding the mystic model.

The Mystic Rules
1. The model must be mounted on a 20mm or 25mm base.
2. The model must match the appearance of the army (i.e. no using a lizardman for a dark elf army).
3. The model must be painted. No exceptions.
4. The model does not count as any unit in the army's respective book. Rules for the use of the mystic will be provided on the day of the event.
5. The mystic must clearly be modeled to easily identify it as the mystic. This does not mean that an elaborate conversion must be made, simply that someone cannot state that the chaos warrior with the extra static grass is the mystic.
6. When it comes to a player’s appearance score, the model will be judged based on the criteria of whether or not upon first glance, does it stand out as the mystic.
7. When it comes to winning the Best Mystic Model, I will be selecting the model I like the most from those that meet the requirements of 1-6. Winning or losing the Best Mystic award has no impact on a player’s tournament score

The Reward
There are two rewards for making sure to bring a mystic. First, the model will be factored into each players' painting score. Second, the best model, as selected by the judge, will receive a cool prize and award.

Please feel free to post any questions or comments.

Event Requirement: Mystic

As part of the Invasion II, each participant is required to bring a single model that represents a mystic for their particular army. For the purpose of the narrative, a mystic is not a spellcaster, but someone who is naturally attuned to the universe. What this means is that participants can be creative with their mystic models.

Army Composition

The army composition rules for Invasion II are as follows:

1. 1000 points using the composition rules for that size game.
2. All current WFB army books are allowed. In addition, any lists that have not been updated from DoW, Chaos Dwarves, or White Dwarf may be used. If any list requires a Lord level character, that requirement is ignored. (If you are not sure, all you need to do is PM me.)
3. Special characters are allowed that fit into the composition rules.
4. Non-DOW armies are allowed to include RoR units, DoW giants and Ogre Kingdom units as outlined in the individual unit's rules. Only DoW armies may use generic DoW units. Only DoW and Ogre Kingdoms may include rhinox riders. Albion units (truthsayer, dark emissary and fen beast) may be used by any army and are considered RoR units for this event.
5. It is strongly suggested that every army includes at least three core choices. This is not a requirement, but armies fielding only the minimum two may find the scenarios difficult to accomplish.
