Invasion Kenosha II: A Gentlemen's Event

As the seasons change and we get closer to Invasion Kenosha II, I wanted to take a moment as the TO and discuss the topic of gameplay rules and Invasion Kenosha’s approach to handling debates about them. The purpose of Invasion Kenosha is to have an afternoon of casual, but organized, gaming. While the event does have competitive elements to it, those are not the focus of the event. This is why I make a point of trying to always refer to Invasion as an event and not a tournament. Along the same lines, the swag and prize support for the event is geared around awarding attendance and having fun more so than proving that someone is the best at something.

Since the spirit of the event is about casual gameplay, I will be using the following method for handling rules related questions.

1. I will make a ruling on any rules posted or emailed to me on or before Dec 25, 2009. All rulings will be posted on the Invasion Kenosha II website and in the Rite of Wars forum by Dec 31, 2009.

2. During the actual event, rules should be handled using the d6 method as outlined in the core rules. This is a gentlemen’s event, so player’s should caution on the side of keeping things positive.

3. If any rules debate becomes disruptive to the event, the players involved will be notified that a roll of the dice by the TO will be used to resolve the debate. The TO may, and likely will, punish the responsible party(s) with a deduction in sportsmanship points. Multiple offenses may result in a harsher punishment.

The bottomline for Invasion Kenosha is that you have nothing to prove when it comes to the event except that you are a good hobbyist. My motto is "People don't brag about what award they won at Invasion, they brag about having been there." I can't wait to hang with everyone in January.

Further discussion about this post and how Invasion Kenosha handles this topic can be found here.

Invasion Kenosha II Sportsmanship Scorecard

The Invasion Kenosha II Sportsmanship Scorecard is now available for review here.

The Invasion Kenosha sportsmanship scoring system is different from the typical system used by most events and tournaments. Players don't complete the scorecard until the end of the event after all three games. This allows players to have a little time to reflect upon their games and opponents in a fair and balanced fashion.

If you have any questions about the sportsmanship scoring system, please post them in the comments here or in the Invasion Kenosha II forums section of the Rites of War website.
