2011 WFB First Pod Prize Announcement

This week is dedicated to announcing prizes associated with the WFB tournament being held at Invasion Kenosha III. Over the last two years, the theme for each tournament has been the narrative called 'Old Magic'. To support the ongoing narrative, the prizes for this year have been selected to reflect the story.

One of the new things for 2011 is that the WFB tournament has been designed to include mini tournaments in addition to the larger tournament that everyone is participating in. These mini competitions are called pods, and the winner of each pod will receive a prize as part of winning the award. Today's reveal shows the first prize being awarded to the winner of one of the pods.

Waaagh Cast - Episode 57

Episode 57 : Blood Bowl

Show notes:

1. Sponsorship : Gryfalia's Aerie, Capital City Games
2. News/Rumors : Warhammer Forge, Storm of Magic, Avatar of War, Waaagh Aerie, 'Ard Boy'z Round 2 Talk
3. Feature : Blood Bowl Chatter

We begin the show on a somber note as one of our long time Warhammer Friends from Central Illinois passed in the last two weeks from a long battle with cancer. After a moment of silent respect we move along into what we've been doing. Discussion of our 'Ard Boy'z games along with our usual business fills the first chunk of the show naturally before we move into some nice news/rumors segments. We go into Warhammer Forge's latest models from the Chaos side the Tamurkhan on Toad Dragon, Sayl the Faithless with Nightmaw and finally Kazyk the Befouled on Rotbeast.

We move along afterward into Games Workshops announcement of a WHFB expansion set for release in July according to their blog. Our thoughts on the increased idea of big monsters and even crazier magic than is currently in the system. We see that Avatars of War has finally put up the 'Berserker' (see Slayer) plastic regiment up for pre-order which excites all the Dwarf players out there. We mention the date of our next tournament we'll be running in Bloomington Illinois on the 25th of June. We discuss some future of extra shows.

Finally I get together with Jason Christian a wonderful player I met at Adepticon this year to go over some Blood Bowl! Him and his friends are avid players of the game and since I'd wanted to do a show about Blood Bowl before Adepticon and didn't get to it, I figured I should definitely take the opportunity to get to it afterward. We cover just the bare bones basics in our discussion so look for some more in depth discussion in a later episode. Hopefully you guys and or gal's enjoy the show!

As mentioned in the podcast, the Waaagh Cast is hosting another tournament on June 25th. They are asking folks to vote for size of the games. I am bias, so I want the tournament to be 1500 points (preferred size and a good primer for Invasion).

Center Stage Miniatures - New Forums and Website

TELL US WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE - VISIT OUR NEW WEBSITE AND FORUMS AT WWW.CENTERSTAGEMINIS.COM

As we prepare for summer and a large number of new releases, we're asking our customers to stop by and tell us what kind of miniatures you'd like to see produced throughout the rest of the year.

It's important for us to be making the kinds of figures you need to have on your gaming table, and our forums will be a critical part of making this happen. Two of our future releases - the Molydeus and Glacial Wyrm - were commissioned as a direct result of customer feedback and are available at a reduced price for pre-order now.

The plan is to double our product offerings by the end of 2011 - and with your help, the majority of those releases will be customer requests. We are working to come up with some kind of discount program for (regular) forum contributors as well.

Look forward to seeing you on the boards, and thanks in advance for your help and continued support of old-school miniature gaming.

Best,

Matt S.

Waaagh Cast - Episode 56

Episode 56 : Post Adepticon

Show notes:

1. Sponsorship : Gryfalia's Aerie, Capital City Games and singularly by Donald Duval
2. News/Rumors : Gale Force 9, Tomb Kings, Contest Winner, 'Ard Boy'z Scenario's
3. Feature : Interviews from Adepticon

This episode Chuck and I delve into my post-Adepticon goodness. Our discussion of recent events therefore is fairly lengthy. I discuss in short each day I spent at Adepticon. Friday my 1k 'It's How You Use It' tournament. Then Saturday and Sunday I go quickly over all 6 of my games from 'The Stupor Bowl' Blood Bowl tournament. We discover that Adepticon is, as always I really great time! The news/rumors section see's us discussing a lot of new stuff that Gale Force 9 is bringing out for Warhammer Fantasy players. We then move on to Games Workshop's newest pre-release Tomb Kings models along with some rumors dug up from a couple of forums. We go over the 'Ard Boy'z scenario's at the end.

The main segment of the show involves us very little. While I was at Adepticon I managed to do exactly what I'd planned while playing in the Blood Bowl tournament which was do interviews with multiple people of interest. I've got short 10 or so minute interviews with Nathan Long from Black Library, Ronni from Mantic Games, Joe from Gale Force 9, Mike Muller from N.A.F. and Stupor Bowl and finally a very short shot with Craig Gallant and Rafe Granger from The D6 Generation.

Insanely at the end of everything I somehow managed to delete the last probably 10 minutes of this episode so it will end quite abruptly after the interview with Craig and Rafe. Oops... Still, I hope you all enjoy!

Garagegamer - Episode 1

So welcome to the first episode of Garagegamer. For those of you who didn’t hear about it when we talked about it on the show, this is our monthly “non-Warhammer” podcast. As you know, Christopher and I play lots of games. Warhammer may be our favorite, but it is certainly not our only.

Since the regular Garagehammer episodes are supposed to be only for Warhammer Fantasy, we decided to do an “bonus content” show once a month for the other games in our lives. You can expect lots of talk about other tabletop wargames, as well as the occasional board game or video game (Skyrim, why can’t you get here quicker?) or whatever else we are playing at the time.

Some things you’ll notice…the format is far simpler. We pretty much just have the one segment on the main topic. Also, it’s short (for us). This being our first foray into Garagegamer, we wanted to keep it simple. Just a quick overview of Warmachine with some Hordes thrown in for good measure. We know these are just the basics, but for someone who has never played, this is a nice introduction.

You can expect one episode of Garagegamer every month, each month talking about a different game or faction within a game.

Please let us know what you think of the new show in the episode discussion thread on our new Garagehammer forums. You can jump to the thread by clicking here.

Thanks for listening!
